'Praise the LORD, all you servants of the
LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD.'
-Psalm 134:1
Sunday Services
Sunday
services are only a small part of what goes on at Elim Pentecostal
Church, Blackburn. We also have a range of other meetings and groups
that meet at various times throughout the week.
Bible
Study
The
study of the Scriptures is the foundation of our fellowship and has
primary importance in our church.
Every
Wednesday at 7.30 pm we hold a Bible Study and Prayer Meeting at the
Church. We are currently studying Mark's
Gospel.
Homegroups
The Homegroup
meets once a month on a Friday for informal prayer and
Bible Study.
We also hold ‘nurture group’
for those who
have recently become Christians.
Good News Club
This
is a club lead by Rita Clarke and volunteers for children aged 5-11. It
meets every Wednesday during term-time in the church building on Park
Road. Please feel free to come along or telephone 01257 272857 for
further details.
Prayer
Meetings
Prayer
plays a vital part in the life of our church. As well as the combined
Bible Study and Prayer Meeting on a Wednesday evening, we also have
an early morning prayer meeting at 7.00 - 8.30 am on a Wednesday
morning, Thursday 10.30am – 12.00, and a Sunday evening
prayer
meeting at 6.00 - 6.30 pm before the evening meeting.
All
Prayer meetings are at the church.
Socials
Every
fortnight, a group meets together for social activities and
fellowship.
Sometimes we meet in home for food and company, other
times we will go out, such as to a bowling alley.
Ferrier
Court
Every
month, we lead a meeting at Ferrier Court Residential Home where the
elderly can enjoy hymn singing and the preaching of the gospel.
Youth
The youth group is for young people at
secondary
school. It meets on Friday nights and Sunday nights after the
evening service.
Church
Walks
Usually
held once monthly, a group of us like to enjoy the beautiful
Lancashire countryside for a walk.
RETO
RETO
is an independent ministry based in Darwen which our church supports.
They help those addicted to drugs to break free from their habits
through prayer and practical support.
We are pleased to have RETOtake some of our mid-week meetings and testify to how the Lord can
set people free from their addictions.
RETO is based at Anchor House
in Darwen
The
RETO lads support themselves by selling household furniture
Evangelism
A group of our members distribute
leaflets and gospel tracts in the towns around Blackburn.
We have also begun the long process of
distributing an invitation to the church through the letter box of
every home in Blackburn and Darwen.
Christianity
Explored
Every
fortnight, a group of new believers meet in the church to go
through the Christianity Explored course using study guides and the
DVDs. This is to nurture and strengthen their new faith in Jesus.
If
you are a new Christian, or
would like to know more about becoming a Christian, please use our contact page
to discuss joining our next course.
Ribble
Valley Alpha Course
David
and Sue Tattersall (pictured) run regular Alpha Courses at their home
in Worston, near Clitheroe.
Alpha is a great, non-threatening and relaxed way to enquire about
Christianity.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact David and Sue.
Alpha
topics include:
What
is the point of life?
What
relevance does Jesus have to our lives today?
How
do we deal with guilt?
Why
does God allow suffering?
If
the Ribble Valley is out of reach, you could take part in our Christianity
Explored course which is held on alternate
Wednesday evenings at Blackburn (see above).
David was a deacon at Blackburn Elim until February 2007, when he felt
the Lord's call to concentrate his energy in the Ribble Valley.
Bamber
Bridge
We
enjoy close fellowship with the Bamber Bridge Pentecostal Church,
Preston, and
have joint meetings with them several times a year. Their
Website can be found at http://www.bbpc.org.uk
